When To Come
Tuesday at eleven. That is the answer.

If you only read one line: a weekday morning in the first hour after opening is the quietest the deck ever gets. Not because of a secret, just arithmetic — tour buses arrive around eleven, school groups around ten-thirty, and the after-work crowd after five.
Sunset
The sunset slot costs more and it sells out first, and both of those things are true for the same reason: it is genuinely good. The city lights come on while the sky is still coloured, and from 1,136 feet that is a real sight. It is also the most crowded slot of the day, the lifts run a queue, and the glass reflects every phone screen in the room. Book it if you want it, but book it early and accept the crowd.
Fog
Fog off the lake is the honest risk. It arrives in spring and again in late fall, usually in the morning, and it can sit for two hours or all day. The deck does not close for fog; you just cannot see. Check the operator's webcams before you commit to a timed slot — that is what they are for.
Summer and winter
July and August are the crush: long queues even with timed tickets, and a lobby that sounds like an airport. The first two weeks of September are the sweet spot — still warm, school back in, queue gone.
Winter is the calm one. The deck is cold, the wind is real, and the view on a clear January morning is the sharpest of the year because the haze is gone. Fewer people, shorter queue, better photographs. Dress for the wind, not for the temperature on your phone.
March break is chaos, same as every attraction in this city. If you have a choice, do not pick that week.
